Fashion with a Passion...

Sometimes as we change inwardly, we desire to change outwardly too. However, doing an entire wardrobe makeover all at once can be daunting and quite expense. Don't despair though -- where there is a will, there is a way.

Look at your wardrobe and see what you have -- then try to look at the pieces in ways you never have before. Do you have a tube top style sundress that can be slid down and used as a skirt? Or a skirt that can be slid up to use as a top and then belted? Do you have a traditional strappy or sleeveless summer something that you can layer a sleeved item under? I have a few black and white shirts that I use for this purpose.

If your wardrobe is currently jeans and you are looking to be more boho or feminine go for a flowy top that drops down over the rump and perhaps mid thigh. If it is too flowy, belt it and give it some definition. And speaking of belts - they can bring a whole new level of intrigue to your look. Accessories can be a priceless asset to dress things up or down.

Layer, layer, layer -- did I say layer? I had a lot of sun dresses that hit below the knee, and then I had some skirts so I put coordinating/complimentary skirts under the sundress, added a sleeved top when appropriate and for even more layering, I add one of those flowing vests. I love the look and feel. If you have pieces like that in your closet, experiment with them to see if you come up with a look you like.

Because you are transitioning from one style to another, don't go out and buy a bunch of expensive pieces right off the bat because let's face it, sometimes what looks good in the catalog or in the store just doesn't quite cut it for us long term after we get it home. Then all that money has gone to waste -- or at least part of it if you are lucky enough to resell it. I am a big fan of cruising the thrift shops to look for unique pieces to add to my style. Many times I can pick something up for a song. Plus, if I want to cut around on it to restyle it, I haven't lost much in the way of money if it doesn't work out for me. Yes, ladies, thrift shops and yard sales can be your friend when doing a total fashion change.

I love how this person reworked an old t-shirt by cutting it and adding a few beads and layering a tank underneath:

That photo is from a pinterest board full of similar ideas: Restyle Old Clothes. Cutting t-shirts and reworking them is an entire art and the design possibilities are endless. So, even if you have an oversized t-shirt from hubby's side of the closet, it has possibilities to be crafted into a piece for your new look.

And most of all, let's not forget about tie dying! By adding wild colors and a little bling, an old thing becomes a new thing. Take a blah, not so interesting piece and give it pizzazz!

I did a google search on *tie die shirts cut up* and the offerings were fantastic! I get wary about posting photos that aren't mine, so here is my search link -- go have a look: google search-tie die shirts cut up. If drippy messy dyes are not your thing, still check out how the shirts are cut up -- you can always restyle a shirt even if you don't tie dye it. And again, this is where thrift shops can really be your friend. T-shirts can be pretty cheap and while it might not be something you would wear off the rack, when you cast your eye on it as a work in progress, suddenly that 99 cent find is priceless!

Some ideas to ponder:
For how-tos and inspiration remember YouTube is a plethera of information by people who have been there and done that -- resource heaven!

That's all for now. Go out and find your fashion pashion!

Bright Blessings and Blessed Be!
