As you can see from the to-go box, we had just finished eating at a restaurant in the mall. Our mall has a lovely park-like atmosphere inside. I think it used to be a really thriving place until a shooting happened in 2010. Sad. Very sad. This mall has a video arcade kid hang out. On the surface that's a good thing -- a place to deposit the kids and keep them occupied while you do your shopping and then collect them on the way out. Only it went beyond that -- it became a gathering place for the local teens to hit the mall, do the food court, watch a movie, just wander the mall in a little roving pack, maybe shop or shoplift :( -- and of course the video arcade. But with teens come teen drama. And some teens have more drama than others. Pile all those factors with lack of supervision in on top of kids looking to be somebody and getting involved with gangs and you have a recipe for disaster. And it was disastrous that day. Six were shot and one dead. Here's a link to the news video if anyone wants to watch. Some asked why would I ever want to live in a town that had a shooting like that and my response is -- what town hasn't had a shooting? Or a knifing? Or a hit and run accident? Or a beating? and on and on. I'm not afraid. Besides, because of that event, the mall has made it mandatory that teens must be accompanied by an adult to get and be accompanied at all times or they are escorted out of the mall. Besides, in the tiny rural town that I lived in before, we had a grisly double homicide and the largest manhunt in Oklahoma history -- Scott James Eisember -- click here to check out his story.
It's truly an awesome town here in Muskogee. I have a gorgeous park, the Castle of Muskogee that does year round events (Ren Faire in May, Fireworks in July, Zombie Run in September, Halloween Village in October, Castle Christmas in December), and our park has a gorgeous azalea festival in April, and a gorgeous holiday light display in December. There is so much to like about this town. I live 3 blocks from my doctor's office which is next to the hospital, across the street from the lab work place and across the street from my arm doctor, and across the street from my pharmacy. So I am literally 7 minutes from any health care that I need and it only takes 7 minutes because I have to cross a major intersection with a light. I LOVE my town.
Getting back to the fashion of the day, let's start with the shoes. Cool, huh? I've had these for probably 10 years. Wow! I hadn't realized that but it has been about that long -- maybe a tad longer. There are no zippers in these babies -- if I want to wear them, I have to do all those laces. That part sucks a bit but they are so cool and comfy they are worth it.
Here's a side view of the shoes. In the first photo above, you can see how they looked with the outfit. Just simple stuff today. The funky part was I am wearing a shirt that says.... drum roll please.... "Witch and Famous". I got it during Halloween one year -- I LOVE buying shirts at Halloween time. Halloween shirts are not just seasonal wear. They are everyday wear for this Witch. LOL
Here I am cheesing it up on a bench in front of a water fountain. There is a little bridge that crosses over it. I will have to do a photo on the bridge one of these days soon. The pants -- well, I guess they were my *daring* funky element of the day -- for me any way. They are yoga pants. I just don't do stretch pants very well. The idea that I now have a protruding caboose and that stretchy things accentuate that makes me uncomfortable. With some of the people in this world that dare to do stretch pants you would think I wouldn't have a bother about it at all. But, hey, I'm glad it works for them -- it doesn't work for me. Not usually anyway. Today, I went for it. I should have done it a few weeks back when I was 10 pounds down. I gained it all back. Oh, well. Start again, right?
This surprised me as we were heading out of the mall. Until today, I hadn't realized that I always walk out on the other side of this display which is a kitchen counter display. Well, lo and behold, this side is a SHOWER! It cracked me up and being the big kid that I am, I darted into it and told hubs to hurry and take a photo. I was afraid the security guard might see and tell me to get out. It didn't shame me to do this photo but it would have shamed me terribly if security had challenged me. What can I say.
And this is it for today. See you tomorrow. I've got some neat ideas about a location for tomorrow....
Bright Blessings and Blessed Be!
